Outfielder Jimmy Parque will get a shot in the St. Louis Cardinals organization in 2013. Jimmy played the entire 2012 season with the Las Cruces Vaqueros hitting 9 home runs and .332 with 292 at bats. At the end of the Vaqueros Season Parque joined the RiverHawks August 10 after the Pecos League Championship Series

In 20 games for Rockford, Parque hit .304 and recored an on-base percentage of .448.

The Las Cruces Vaqueros of the Pecos League have agreed to have Rawlings Bats as their Bat Sponsor for the 2013 season. Rawlings is the most widely used bat in Minor League Baseball.

Rawlings is one of many companies that have contacted the Pecos League about being an exclusive bat. The Pecos League will have either eight or nine teams and has eliminated the use of composite bats for the 2013 season. Each team in the Pecos League will have an exclusive bat contract. The most successful baseball season

The most successful baseball season in the history of Las Cruces ended yesterday with the Vaqueros falling to the Alpine Cowboys in the deciding game of the championship series.

While many have used the words dream season to describe this years addition of the Vaqueros the reality is that this team could flat out win. They went 9 and 5 in May, 16 and 12 in June, 16 and 12 in July, and 3-2 and August and were the first Vaqueros team to not have a losing month for the length of a season.

An even bigger accomplishment was that the Vaqueros were the only team in the entire Pecos League that did not have a losing record against any of their opponents finishing with a 6 and 4 record against Alpine, a 7 and 6 record against Roswell, a 10 and 6 record against Santa Fe, a 9 and 7 record against Trinidad, and an incredible 13 and 7 record against White Sands. On the field several players had what could also be considered to be dream seasons as several team records were not just broken but beaten multiple times by multiple players. RF Logan Lotti hit 23 homeruns destroying Clint Strouds old record of 15 in a season while Pecos League MVP Steve Rinaudo set new team records for Runs (99) , Hits (110) , Doubles (24), and Triples (9). The previous records were 78 hits, 52 runs, 14 doubles, and 2 triples showing that Rinaudo had the greatest season of any Vaquero ever.

On the mound, Justin Yackee set a new team record for appearances with 35 and Derek Johnson was the first player in team history to throw 2 complete games.

For the fans, the season felt to good to be true also. During the All-Star game a fan approached pitching coach Mike Nassisi and mentioned that seeing 5 Vaqueros on the field at the same time felt like a dream and could not be real. Nassisis answer was Why can"t it be both?

I guess in the end, having it be both is what this team and this league is about.

The Las Cruces Vaqueros were lead by a great coaching staff on Mike Nassisi, Casey Dill and Dustin Woodward. The Vaqueros were built as an offensive team with the best defensive infield in the league. They lead the league in double plays and used Trevor Whyte, Randy Wells, Jesse Olivar, and Kevin Wager all year long. Their pitching staff was good enough to keep them in games. Like most Pecos League Teams their bullpen is limited. They kept the Vaqueros together all year long despite constant offers from higher leagues to promote their players. Casey Dill says: "I have established a great relationship with several higher level independent leagues. When our season is over I will promote my players. This is the agreement that we have and it has worked well." It has lead to the best season ever for the Vaqueros and they will promote more players than any team in the Pecos League because of it. Because of the success of the Vaqueros and the fact it is the biggest city in the Pecos League, Las cruces will be attractive for free agents in the off season. Neither Dill nor the Pecos League knows for sure if he is going to be back in Las Cruces.

Steve Rinaudo hit a three inside the park home run that ricocheted off of the Brick Wall in Alpine. Trevor Whyte hit a three run homer in the 9th to break the game open. Whyte also scored four runs. Nacho Ochoa went 2-3 for Alpine with 2 doubles. Chris Welborn did not get out the 2nd inning allowing 8 runs on 7 hits. The Las Cruces Vaqueros beat the Alpine Cowboys 12-5 to send the series to game three. The Vaqueros got a solid start from Chris Peacock which pitch 7 2/3 innings allowing only 4 runs. Alfonso Cardenas struck out the side in the 9th to end the game for the Vaqueros.

The Alpine Cowboys beat the Las Cru

The Alpine Cowboys beat the Las Cruces Vaqueros with three swings of the bat. The big blow was Joel Carranza"s three run homer off Derek Johnson in the 7th to tie the game 4-4. The Cowboys then got their power from the least likely source. Eric Herman hit the next pitch out of the park to give the Cowboys the lead in what would hold up for good. Alpine"s other run came from a solo Home Run by Nacho Ochoa in the 2nd. The Vaqueros turned four double plays and played well defensively but you cannot defend the long ball. Alfredo Caballaro came out to get the save in the 9th. Andrew Plotkin and Kevin Johnson each had solid relief appearences for Alpine.

Steve Rinuado was named Pecos Leagu

Steve Rinuado was named Pecos League MVP. Steve lead the high altitude Vaqueros offense with a .400 batting average, 108 hits, 17 HR"s and 22 SB. Steve was recruited and signed by Vaqueros Head Coach Casey Dill. "Steve is the best player in this league, there should not even be a vote." says Vaqueros Manager Casey Dill.

Steve will be moving to higher league at the conclusion of the Pecos League Playoffs. Steve was a third baseman/pitcher Steve Rinaudo was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Year for his play during the 2009 season for Culver Stockton. He also played at UNLV.

The Vaqueros and Cowboys will each have one suite for fans. Fans from both cities are invited out to the game. The Regular Season ends July 31, 2012 and currently both of these teams are in the top three teams trying to secure a home playoff game. Las Cruces Vaqueros 13 White Sands Pupfish 9- The Las Cruces Vaqueros won the Opening Game of the 2012 season 13-9 in Alamogordo Friday Night. The game was almost delayed by huge 45 mph winds blowing straight in from center field and gusting rain. The weather calmed down and the game played. The Vaqueros jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning on back to back errors by the Pupfish. The Pupfish answered with 6 runs in the bottom of the 2nd and seemed in control of the game. Jordan Stouffer went 4-6 and lead the Pupfish offensively. The Vaqueros went into the 9th inning down 9-6. the difference in the game was Sal Rivera hit a two out two strike single in the bottom of the 9th to tie the score at 9-9. Rivera had previous fouled a pitch off of his ankle and was almost removed. He decided to carry on and drove a pitch of the middle to tie the game with two outs and two strikes. Richard McNeal held the Pupfish in the 9th. Trevor Whyte hit a towering two run homer to open up the game. Casey Dill won his first game managing in the Pecos League. The Vaqueros have a strong competitive energy and are a much better team than 2011"s version.

The Las Cruces Vaqueros finalized their look for the 2012 season. They have sharp new uniforms, new grandstands, entire new team, and a new baseball. With the Pecos League"s contract with Rawlings the Vaqueros will use a Rawlings MLB Ball with blue seems and blue ink. The ball will sport the Vaqueros logo and be a hit with fans and collectors. The Baseballs will be for sale at PecosLeague.com in late April.

The Infield and outfield was completely resodded and re leveled.
The Mound was completely rebuilt.
A state of the art sound system was installed.
The most needed and visible change was the main grandstand deck. Which is now state of the art aluminum bleachers.

The Vaqueros begin Spring Training on April 30 with their home opener on May 12. Also gone is the chicken wire it is replaced with state of the art netting. Apodoca Park has the best grass, infield, lights and seating in the Pecos League. The Vaqueros are set to have a huge jump in their attendence in 2012.

The Las Cruces Vaqueros are really

The Las Cruces Vaqueros are really working hard in the offseason. Casey Dill spent this last week in Las Cruces and is very impressed with possibilites of the Vaqueros for the 2012 season. He is excited to get going. The Vaqueros are only returning one player (Harry Williams) from last years team that majorly underachieved. Along with 29 new players the Vaqueros have an entire new coaching staff all from Northern California. They promise to give full effort in hopes of making the playoffs. They also promise to have a team that participates in the community and plays hard on the field. The Vaqueros have a new ballpark with completely new seating at Apodoca Park. The Vaqueros also have brand new Royal Blue Uniforms and a new sound system in Apodoca Park. "This is our third year, we should have a competitive team and should have much better attendence than 2011. We are in quality league with no travel teams and every night there is a game in Apodoca Park it will be a good one. We have a good looking team, cold beer and a new ballpark. Finally our fans have something to look forward to." says Vaqueros owner Andrew Dunn. The Vaqueros open the season at Apodoca Park on the 12th and the season on the 11th at White Sands.

The City of Las Cruces has begun work on reconstruction of grandstands at Apodoca Park. This week the City has completely torn down the historic grandstands. These grandstands came from a racetrack in Kansas City in the 1960"s according to a history report of the ballpark. Cranes and cutters circled Apodoca Park this week. Next week construction will begin to build the new structure. The new seating structure will be completed or before March 15, 2012. The Vaqueros will now have one of the finest facilities in the Pecos League with seating around 850. The infield has been completely rebuilt. The chicken wire is down and new netting with replace it. The Vaqueros are pleased to have Marci Dickerson owner of The Game Restaurant back for concession stand/beer operations. People in Las Cruces are already excited about being able to go to game and actually have space to sit down. The Vaqueros are committing to putting a winning team in Las Cruces for years to come.
