May 24 2012 The Las Cruces Vaqueros defeated the Roswell Invaders 13-4 behind a 20-hit attack. Las Cruces scored in six of the first seven innings, including two runs in the first, one in the second, six in the fourth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh. Roswell scored once in the fourth and three times in the sixth, but could not close the gap.
Trevor Whyte led Las Cruces with four hits in five at-bats, four RBI and one run. Sal Rivera went 3-for-5 with three runs and three RBI, while Jesse Olivar collected four hits and scored twice. Logan Lotti added two hits, three runs and one RBI, and Jimmy Parque had two hits and one RBI. The Vaqueros also received two doubles from Whyte and a double from both Rivera and Steve Rinaudo.
Bruce Amende earned the win for Las Cruces after allowing seven hits and four earned runs over six innings with four strikeouts and one walk. Alfonso Cardenas, Justin Yackee and Chaz Leftridge combined for three scoreless innings, with Yackee striking out three. Jorge Hernandez took the loss for Roswell after surrendering eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings.
Roswell's offense included three hits and two RBI from AJ Morris, who hit a home run, while Josh Cakebread also homered and drove in one run. The Invaders finished with nine hits, and Matt Umba added two hits. Las Cruces finished with a 20-9 advantage in hits and committed no errors.
