May 18 2011 The Las Cruces Vaqueros defeated the Carlsbad Bats 16-9 after collecting 21 hits and scoring in six innings. Las Cruces broke open the game with four runs in the second inning and added two in the third and four in the fourth to take a 10-4 lead. The Vaqueros then scored five times in the sixth and added another run in the seventh.
Herbert Lara led Las Cruces with four hits four runs and one RBI. Juan F. Martinez also recorded four hits with three runs and one RBI while Bo Bell went 3-for-6 with two runs and one RBI. Steve Detweiler hit a home run and drove in three runs and Harry Williams Jr. added three hits two RBI and one run. Mitch Saum scored twice and collected two hits and two walks.
Kyle Boggio earned the win for Las Cruces after allowing nine hits and seven runs in seven innings. He struck out eight and walked five while four of his seven runs were earned. R. Greco pitched the final two innings and allowed two runs with two strikeouts.
Carlsbad scored once in each of the first two innings and twice in the third before adding three runs in the seventh and two in the ninth. A. Ellison scored three runs and had two hits with two walks while Ron Santos and Greg Perret each collected two hits. Perret drove in both of Carlsbad's RBI. Seth Marchant took the loss after allowing 13 hits and 10 runs in four innings with four strikeouts.
